About

Born in 1977, he received a Ph.D degree in “Religious Studies: social sciences and historical studies of religions” at the University of Bologna after graduation in Philosophy of Religion at the University of Salerno, where he currently continues his research activities. He also studied in Tübingen am Neckar, Pisa and Berlin. Secretary-general of the Italian Association for Philosophy of Religion (AIFR), he’s also a member of the Deutsche Ges. für Religionsphilosophie (DGR), the Italian Kant Society (SISK) and the Italian Association for the Study of Philosophy and Theology (AISFET), whose Southern Section is Secretary and whose journal, "Philosophy and Theology", is writer. He also founded the online Journal of Philosophy of Religion (aifr.it).

Hagar Spano deals with moral philosophy and philosophy of religion, with special regard to the German Enlightenment and with particular attention paid to historical aspects. Mainly he works on Johann August Eberhard, Friedrich Schleiermacher and Immanuel Kant. He's author of many papers, published in Italy and abroad in chapters of edited books or journals; he has published articles and reviews on the following journals: "Filosofia e Teologia", "Teoria", "Annali di Storia dell'Esegesi", "Studi kantiani", "Persona". He’s also the author / editor of the following books: "Religioni e salvezza. La liberazione dal male tra tradizioni religiose e pensiero filosofico" (co-edited with G. Cunico), Naples 2010; "Religione, etica e laicità" (ed.), Naples 2008; "Filosofia pratica e individualità. Sulle meditazioni etiche del giovane Schleiermacher", Naples 2002. Forthcoming: a monograph work on the german theologian and philosopher Johann August Eberhard (1739-1809).
